Overview›Foundations of Programming›Assessments

Final project — A small working program

One program of your own choosing, with a test plan and an account of one bug you fixed.

All of Assessments

Weight 50%. Due Friday of week 12, 5:00pm. Demonstration assessment — the date and the mark on this site are fictional.

One program of your own choosing, roughly 150–300 lines. It must:

  • read some data, do something with it, and report a result;
  • be split into named functions, each of which you can describe in a sentence;
  • come with a test plan: what you checked, with what inputs, and what you expected;
  • include an account of one bug, from the symptom to the cause to the fix.

The bug account is not a confession, it is evidence. A project with no bug account reads as a project that was never really tested.

Marking

Holistic, out of 50. Ambition is not rewarded on its own — a small program that is correct, tested and explained scores above a large one that mostly works.
